Mt Ashland Bull Gap Trail

This set of trails varies from easy to more difficult. The 5.7 Bull Gap trail connects the Bull Gap parking area with the Mt Ashland ski area just below the lodge. The last 2.5 miles up to the ski area climbs 1100 feet. The Crest loop is a 2.0 mile trail that branches off the Bull Gap trail at the 0.4 mile point and follows the PCT, then cuts through the woods, and finally follows road 050 back to the Bull Gap trail. Do not ski this trail in icy or low snow conditions. A round trip from Bull Gap to Mt Ashland with the Crest loop added in on the way out would be a 13.4 miles trip with more than 1500 feet of vertical climb on the way up to Mt Ashland lodge.

Grouse loop trail on Mt Ashland

The Grouse loop trail is a 6.7 mile loop trail that leaves the Mt Ashland Nordic parking area and follows Road 20 across Grouse Gap to the Grouse Gap shelter. From there it heads south along a forest road, eventually turning off the road to the left through the trees and later, across a meadow, eventually reaching another forest road. This road will intersect with forest road 40S15 and you head up hill back to the parking area.
